The Über Gamer Quiz was created by yours truly, a 21 year old, wheelchair bound gaming enthusiast, with the goal to both provide a broad-spectrum litmus test of an individual’s gaming knowledge and to serve as a way to attract gamers to my gaming apparel site, ubergamertees.com. How does this site help cross promote Über Gamer Tees? Despite this being painfully obvious, I’ll explain: The Über Gamer Quiz is a gaming trivia site. Gaming trivia sites tend to attract gamers. Gamers are the prime demographic of a gaming apparel site. Über Gamer Tees is a gaming apparel site. It’s my hope to someday make the front page of a social bookmark site like digg or del.icio.us, but until that time it looks like word of mouth is going to be my best source of free advertising. Challenge your friends to beat your score, plaster links all over your Facebook or MySpace, and by all means, check out ubergamertees.com. Most of the questions (so far) were dreamed up based on the collective gaming knowledge of me, my brother, and several friends. Being merely human, our small group can only come up with questions for games we have played, which is why this quiz has a classic Nintendo bias and discriminates against the RTS and modern RPG genres. It is ignorant to believe that a truly unbiased, all encompassing general gaming knowledge quiz is even possible, so really our goal is to just get as close as we can. If you think we missed a classic game, please fix our grave error by submitting your own question using the form provided in the menu at the bottom. If it’s good enough you’ll see it magically appear in the quiz soon after submission, to befuddle the next set of test takers. That's right, not stump, confuse, fuddle, or bedevil, but befuddle. Despite my incredible inhuman restraint, a couple of unfair trick questions have made their way into the current list to stump fans of the more popular games. Think of them as a way to separate the casual gamers from the hardcore rabid fans. Just playing Zelda does not make you an über gamer and it wouldn’t be much of a quiz if I just handed out perfect scores like candy. Also, a few questions rely on knowledge gained from pop culture sources other than - but related to video games. As I said, being an über gamer is about more than merely playing the games, it’s about absorbing everything gaming. Because gamers can sometimes be passionate to a fault over their beloved hobby and because I’d rather not receive truckloads of virtual hate mail because I didn’t cover the system, genre, or game of some fanboy’s choice to his (or her) satisfaction, I’ve chosen not to include a contact page. Hah.
